Exhibition

We Were So Far Away is a collaborative exhibition by Inuk curator Heather Igloliorte which focused on the Inuit experience of the Residential School system (similar to Jeff Thomas' exhibition Where Are The Children? Healing the Legacy of Residential Schools). The travelling exhibition included photo-banners depicting eight Inuit residential school survivors, personal photographs, and text from transcribed oral history testimonies. The historical context of trauma and the residential school system was contextualized through Igloliorte's trauma-informed curatorial approach, but the exhibition's focus was on healing and resilience.
