Digital archive and exhibition

Synagogues in Germany is an exhibit of 14 virtually reconstructed synagogues in Germany which were destroyed in 1938. Researchers have created elaborate 3D digital reconstructions of more than 25 of the more than 1,000 synagogues destroyed on Kristallnacht (Crystal Night or The Night of Broken Glass). These reconstructions serve as a reminder of what was, and speak to the significance of cultural loss as an instrument of genocide.
