Erica Lehrer's curatorial project, Souvenir, Talisman, Toy, exhibited at the Seweryn Udziela Ethnographic Museum in Poland, looked at the cultural context of the museological display of Jewish figurines made by non-Jewish Polish citizens. The exhibition was in direct response to a display Lehrer visited at the museum, in which it uncritically exhibited such figurines without any interpretive support for visitors. Lehrer’s project utilizes objects as catalysts for difficult dialogue and contested history.
