Turtle Island/Canada

The traveling exhibition Facing the Monumental, curated by Wanda Nanibush, is an expansive exhibition of thirty years of work by Rebecca Belmore. Featuring sculptures, installations, photography and videos, some of which are based on Belmore's historic performances, the work featured in this exhibition draws on themes of water, cultural freedom, homelessness, and violence against Indigenous individuals and communities. The focus is on recognizing and honouring Belmore's countless contributions to Indigenous art and cultural resistance, while remembering the forgotten and listening to marginalized voices.
